Airbag On/Off SwitchesWe make airbag control switches that let you turn off the airbags in any passenger vehicle. The switches are key controlled so the owner can decide who can turn them on and off. Our universal Airbag Switch meets all government requirements. The case is about 1"X2"x3" and the switch is has a key to turn the airbag on or off , with a yellow indicator light that indicates when the switch has turned the airbag off.
The Airbag Switch Company makes the only universal switch available today that uses gold contacts to eliminate the problem of internal corrosion. This means the our switches last the life of your car rather than needing to be replaced after a few years. Why? because in a low current switching application, such as in an airbag circuit, the contacts need a certain amount of current in order to clean their own contacts. Gold has been the standard in low current computer circuits for many years because of this. Our switch also does not contain a fuse to interrupt the circuit when there is a detonation impulse. Some manufacturers have tried to use such a fuse to protect themselves from liability, but the end result is that the user has to pay to replace the switch in order to get it to meet Federal law each time there is a detonation impulse. If the switch is not replaced once an internal fuse is blown, it interferes with the vehicle's SRS warning system anytime the airbag is switched off. In plain English, this means our universal switches are the only ones that still keep the car's airbag warning light off, as the government requires, after working once. Federal regulations require all Airbag Switches to have a yellow light to
indicate when the airbag is turned off. Side airbag disconnectionMany cars today come equipped with active side airbags. We offer a kit that includes a device for making the Airbag (SRS) Warning Light in the instrument panel stay off even when the side airbag is disconnected. NHTSA has published warnings about the danger of side airbags to children, and the danger of the noise of airbag detonation, particularly so close to the ear is well known in certain circles, such as to the Tinnitus and Hyperacusis community.
